Caroline Davis’ commercial photography work exposed her to a wide range of subject matter and many different approaches to photography, but she chose to focus her fine arts work on underwater photography. "Cayman Sound, Grand Cayman, Caribbean Sea" was shot in the crystal clear waters of the Cayman Islands, which are located south of Cuba. This photograph shows some water and some sky, plus sea floor. Appropriately, Davis used a very wide-angle, “fish-eye,” lens that provides sharp focus over long distances but it also causes the horizon line to curve. That effect is less noticeable in this photograph, which captures the pristine clarity of the Caribbean waters and the incredibly blue sky that saturates the scene
