This engraving was issued as the frontispiece to a ballad written by William Hayley (English, 1745–1820). The artist William Blake and Hayley entered into an agreement to publish a series of ballads written by Hayley and illustrated by Blake, however only a limited number of this projected series were actually issued. In the end, Blake apparently published only fourteen plates related to this series.
