Self-taught sculptor Fred Webster is known for the use of Biblical subject matter and Christian imagery. While his forms and the simple painted wood construction of his sculpture convey a certain whimsy, the messages are profoundly pious. This work is typical; man is seen to be at the mercy of nature and God. His arms are raised in both terror and supplication. Mr. Webster's sculpture implies that man is wise to submit to the will and the protection of the higher power.
