Sophia Loren (born 1934) Born Sofia Scicolone in Rome, Italy, Loren began her film career in Italy in 1951 and married producer-director Carlo Ponti in 1957. Her first English-speaking film was The Pride and the Passion with Frank Sinatra and Cary Grant. Loren was also the first person to win a Best Actress Oscar for a foreign film.
