Cam Langley (aka George Campbell Langley)
American, 1948–2013
"Melon Bouquet" was created by the Birmingham-based artist Cam Langley in 1999. It is stunning in its brilliantly glossed greens, pinks, and yellow floral forms. These blown-glass forms flow effortlessly into the air in swirling bursts of line and color. Langley did not make any preliminary drawings for his assemblage pieces such as "Melon Bouquet." He was inspired by the natural forms of fruit and flowers, and by experimentation with combinations of elements.
