This compote, or tazza, is a piece of decorative tableware produced by Tiffany Studios in about 1920. It shows Tiffany’s subtle shift from Art Nouveau to more eclectic styles under the new leadership of Joseph Briggs. The form of this work was influenced by Venetian glass of the seventeenth century, with its emphasis on an elaborate profile, and a sense lightness and delicacy. Tiffany Studios produced a large amount of pastel opalescent glass during this time.
