This deep circular dish has a dark blue ground reticulated in gilding to imitate pebbles. The distinctive style of gilding is derived from the "lapis caillouté" pattern found at the Sèvres French manufactory. The effect has been described as reminiscent of Asian lacquer. On English porcelain, caillouté gilding is rare, occurring on Worcester ware only in the 1770s. The central roundel is painted in colors with a large cluster of spotted fruit.
