This design of agitated birds in landscape, sometimes called the Mobbing Birds pattern, was painted on vases either in colors, black monochrome or in underglaze blue. An overriding Meissen influence can be seen in both its shape and decoration. The vase was conceived in sets of five and originally came with a cover. At least four different artists were associated with this pattern, including James Giles.
