This compote depicts a female divine praying in the wilderness among ferocious wild animals. The exterior is decorated with further studies of animals. The painting has been attributed to Fidelle Duvivier, who probably decorated white Worcester porcelain for a short period while at the London studio of the independent artist James Giles. Duvivier also worked for the English manufactories of Chelsea, Derby, Staffordshire, and Caughley.
