Covering the plate is a rich pattern of flowers and plants in famille rose colors including turquoise, orange, yellow and green. The pattern probably derived from Indian textile designs as well as European interest in exotic, oriental flora. Here stylized “pomegranates” are repeated in various fanciful colors with other passion flowers such as hibiscus.
