Debora Moore was born in 1960, the beginning of the American twentieth-century Arts and Crafts movement as well as the beginning of the Studio Glass Movement. She grew up in an exciting time when the studio glass industry was forming with passion and intensity in the United States. Out of this experience, Moore has emerged as a talented studio glass artist filled with creativity and enthusiasm for her trade.
She attended the Pratt Fine Arts Center and the Pilchuck Glass School and gained a rich education in glass art. She has worked as an assistant glassblower for Dale Chihuly, and has taught at a number of educational institutions. She has won numerous awards and has been granted fellowships from museums throughout the world to continue her studies on the orchid flower and how to interpret them through her pieces. She now creates pieces for museum and solo exhibitons as well as maintaining her own studio, Fiori Glass Studio in Seattle, Washington.
Moore is fascinated by the beauty and fragility of nature. She seeks to capture its delicay and spiritualtiy in each piece she creates. As Moore says in her artist's statement, “these works are a both personal meditation of the glorious wonder of nature, as well as a celebration of its power and mystery.”
