William Morris is one of the giants of the American Studio Glass Movement, known for his hauntingly expressive sculptures that focus on nature and natural forms. Morris' work has been strongly influenced by his interest in archeology and ancient pagan cultures. It addresses the timeless relationship between humans and their environment. His work evokes images from a time when man was more in tune with nature and partook in primitive ritual practices. Morris was born in Carmel, California in 1957, and received his degrees from California State University at Chico and Central Washington University.
