Harry Northwood
American
Harry Northwood came to the United States from England in 1881. He began experimenting with art glass and found success at the turn of the century when he created his first iridescent glass piece. He worked at several American glasshouses, and opened his own factory in Wheeling, West Virginia in the early 1900s.
Northwood produced novelty and functional glassware in the style of Tiffany at an affordable price. He produced popular irridescent glassware from the turn of the century throughout the 1920s. Northwood put a maker’s mark on his pieces, which makes his glass easy to identify.
